Rachel and Adam

Rachel and Adam are in the same band which mixes rock with opera so their wedding was a mix of the same! Cinderella themed with a huge white castle wedding cake at the traditional Arley Hall, all merged in with skinny suits, pink hair and multicoloured socks!blog frame01

Verity and Scott

Verity and Scott had an intimate wedding with close family and a few friends at Marylebone registry and then off in black cabs to a restaurant in Mayfair. I was only with them for a short while but it was really touching to see their excitement about getting married. Scott said that the day he first met Verity, he came home and told his Mum he’d met the girl he was going to marry.

Verity is an arty lass with a love of the quirky so she pulled together some fab accessories with some serious bling and blue wooden flowers – who’d have thought they went together but check her out!! Loved it!

Kirsty and Chris

I had a ball with these guys, they were up for all sorts! We explored the back allies of Castlefield and then went onto my favourite Manchester boutique hotel, Great John Street. Convention isn’t their thing so at the end of the night I ended up in their honeymoon suite photographing them in their twin baths!  Awesome.

Stephanie and Matthew

Stephanie and Matthew got married at the very grand Chatsworth House. Stephanie is a great animal lover so her dogs attended the wedding looking very cute with flowers on their collars, courtesy of my favourite florist, Mat Hepelstone. He did wonders again surprising the bride and groom with a candy and icecream theme to match the candy pink of the Carriage House reception room. The evening rolled on with chocolate fountains, a candy station and DJ’s from Sankey’s.

Emma and Adrian

Emma and Adrian have been grooming their garden for a year in preparation for their wedding and how worth it! A beautiful raj style tent fitted snugly amongst the shrubs for their reception, like an outdoor dining room. Perfect for the lazy summer afternoon feel, helped along by the string quartet perched in the open bay windows of the house.

Lottie and Tom

Lottie and Tom got married in Didsbury and then went onto Hilltop country house in Prestbury. A truly vintage affair with Lottie’s nipped in waist and layers of short tulle dress, bunting, flowers in jam jars and old fashioned hankies for the ladies to dry their tears on. They’re music buffs so all the name cards were uniquely written with lyrics from their favourite songs and Tom kicked off the evening party on the mike, fronting the band, it was all rock n roll baby! The dance floor was rather tricky to light, having blacked out ceilings and walls (bounce flash impossible!)  but it gave it a great ambiance to the photos – how cool do the dancing shots look with that retro stripey floor!blog frame31

Kiley and Jamie’s wedding

Back on home turf at Hampton Manor, we had a blazing hot day in the sun. Kiley and Jamie were so chilled (apart from the cravate tying, Jamie!) so were a pleasure to photograph. We had a lovely time in the lazy afternoon sunshine playing with their son Riley, who stole the show!

Jennifer and Ian’s Wedding

The day started off with a battle with the elements in the hills around Edinburgh. The boys, being true Scotsmen, howled ‘my eyes, my eyes!’ in the wind and rain. They managed to keep their eyes open for a few shots! Then off I trundled in the VW van, named Flora, to Jen’s which was all warmth and elegance as the 3 girls meandered around in their matching pink dressing gowns. We ran out of time for the planned shots in the park but had a ball on the ‘grotty looking stairs’ of Jen’s apartment corridors. I don’t think her Mum quite knew what to think, I heard her laughing about it to the guests later on in the day but assuring me she trusted my artistic judgement! The wedding was at Glencourse House with its own little chapel, all very quaint. The vintage theme was continued with beautiful cottage flowers in the marquee, jars of tablet (secret recipe by Jen’s aunt) on the tables for the guests and minature blossom trees. The evening finished in true scottish style with a ceilidh and lots of enthusiastic dancing. blog frame01

Melissa and Charles

Melissa and Charles got married on the Englefield Estate which must be the most picturesque church setting with its own mansion and deer park behind it! Melissa is a wedding photographer herself so it was a privilege to be chosen by someone with a photographic eye and she was fairly well behaved as promised to her husband – I only spotted her picking up a camera 3 times! After the ceremony, we proceeded to Ufton Court for drinks on the lawn and were entertained by an opera singer and by Melissa herself – a multitalented lady, she had been secretly practising the cello to surprise Charles who had been urging her to take it up again. The reception meal was in the tithe barn with fairy lights and a deep sea theme because of the couples love of diving. In the evening, sky lanterns lit up the sky which was the first time I’ve seen them and they were fab!

Sara and Pete’s Wedding

Sara was the third bride in the same group of friends that I’ve photographed over the last few years so it was nice to catch up with good friends. And fun to be back up in Manchester where I lived for 7 years. Got to catch up wih the lovely Lucy Smith and Lucy West, who I’ve been informally mentoring so they came along to learn a few new tricks and assist. They have started working full time with their own business and its great to see their enthusiasm to learn new things. Watch this space, I will plug them when their websites are finished.

Sara and Pete wanted a real city wedding so chose Castlefield for the reception which worked great as a backdrop for some moody lads shots. The reception flowers were absolutely stunning and made me want to become a florist momentarily, I highly recommend Mat from www.redfloralarchitecture.com. It was beautifully designed wedding and the lovely thing about it was that it was clear that it was to spoil their guests rather than themselves. The escort cards had a photo of each person instead of their name with a coloured ribbon which later revealed their surprise…each colour was the ticket for a different style of limo which would take them to their next secret venue. The guests whooped and hollered at this news! So the guests travelled in a stretch limo, a hummer limo or a landrover limo to Great John St Boutique hotel where guests were treated to a gourmet BBQ on the rooftop terrace.  A magician entertained them whilst they enjoyed their sundowners overlooking the cityscape and my favourite…a pick and mix candy station of flying saucers, rainbow buttons and candycanes.blog frame01

Matt and Jo’s wedding

Matt and Jo have a quirky sense of humour and all their wedding invites were in the style of Edward Monkton.  They were both so easy going and up for anything (except for group formals… we had to tie Matt to the spot for the sake of his parents!) Their wedding day was a beautiful and relaxed day in the summer sun, barefoot lounging on the grass with the kids blowing bubbles and smearing themselves in chocolate cake. Matt’s parents performed a musical puppet show and got everyone singing along and the evening ended with salsa led by a lady in red.

Avril and Paul’s wedding

One of the great things about being a wedding photographer is that I often get to photograph some of my closest friends weddings. And that way you get to spend all day with the bride and not just a fleeting greeting as she makes her way around the tables! I’ve known Avril for nearly 8 years from when we lived in halls together at university. Avril was always the dainty coy one so my then boyfriend, now husband, used to have great fun teasing her in a brotherly fashion! We think we were warming her up for her new family because they are as boisterous as they come – my type of people! (just have look at his brother below- you’ll know which one I mean!) Paul has a very random sense of humour so Avril and I decided that had to be fully embraced in the lads group shots.

Nazreen and Chris’s wedding

When I met Nazreen for her wedding consultation, she had this huge, perfectly filed folder for every detail of the wedding. She’s the most organised bride I’ve met! Shes going to have to go into wedding planning herself I think… The plan was for a Hollywood style wedding; big dress (no, HUGE dress!), white suit, flashy car, gospel choir, outdoor ceremony, martini glass flower arrangements, fireworks. However, one thing our immaculate bride could not organise was the weather. The venue overlooked a beautiful lake and the ceremony was to take place overlooking this dramatic view. However it was the first Saturday in August – the one where it literally poured down from 1pm to 8pm without any signs of stopping. Nazreen bravely didn’t let it ruin her day and once into the marquee, where a makeshift seating area had been hastily arranged, tears were dried and our bride was radiant for the rest of the day. I had to pull out all the stops to find somewhere dry to be creative until we managed to get out for a couple of evening shots in the dying evening light. There just happened to be a great garage/warehouse behing the venue for the lads photos who had all the attitude of their hip hop heroes…! Also looking forward to seeing the video produced by Stormfieldproductions.com who were there on the day.

And just one more of Angeli…

This was too beautiful not to publish…

Angeli and JT’s wedding

Angeli met Monsieur JT on a catwalk in London so we all knew this was going to be a stylish wedding!   With one of  my favourite wedding dresses of the last few years, swirling colourful saris and a very chic selection of French couture in the audience, this wedding was a feast for the eyes. The day was conducted in a mixture of French and English so all the speeches sounded extra romantic. The best mens’ speech was hilarious, despite me not being able to understand much of it – they did a catwalk of the ushers dressed up as JT at very stages of his fashion wanderings before he became the tailored man that he is now. JT and Angeli, this is for you, as you relax in Bora Bora!

Stephanie and John

We had our first wedding at Hampton Manor a few weeks back. It was really special because it was one of my husband’s bestfriends getting married. Over a year ago, John told his girlfriend Stephanie that he wanted to show her around his friends new project. Hampton Manor was still a shell at the time except for one small oak panelled room which had escaped the chaos. John covered it with candles and flowers and he and my husband slaved over a hot stove (lasagne, they didn’t get too inventive!) to prepare a candlelit dinner for John and Steph. My husband James was the waiter! They had a lovely evening and he proposed to her there. It was touching for them to have such a precious moment there at the beginning of our journey and complete it by being the first couple to get married at Hampton Manor. Of course, I was there to record all the action on the big day….
