New Year’s Day
After dancing the night away til 4am, I finally managed to get my 2 best friends Nicola and Sylvia out of bed at 1pm (slackers..) for a traditional new years day walk. Despite the wear of the night before, they were gracious enough to join in a few snaps in the lovely afternoon light…

How can she call us slackers?!!!…… says Sylvia

WPJA winner
I’m pleased to announce I received 17th place in the Wedding Photojournalist Association contest in the creative portrait category, which is entered by photographers all over the world. This is added to the the 2 awards I won last year as well which placed me as medallion winning member. Thanks to Sara and Pete whose wedding this was, shot in August in Castlefield, Manchester.
‘The Wedding Photojournalist Association proudly recognizes the accomplishments and creative excellence of Fjona Wei-ling. The following awards have been earned by Fjona from the WPJA. These achievements come with great merit considering the high level of competition that a member faces in the contests. Stringent standards are upheld throughout the contests, standards equivalent to those of professional working photojournalists.’
‘JUDGES COMMENTS: Quite an interesting way to photograph the groom and his men; looks like it was taken inside a lighthouse and it’s got the feel of an M.C. Escher print. Excellently executed so that even the men at the bottom are clearly in focus.’

I’m in Cosmo Bride!
Thanks to Cosmopolitan who published Louisa and Kevin’s wedding from July 08, a lovely vintage garden affair. Louisa and I were both fans of each others styles and I got very trigger happy when I was scouting out the venue on the morning of the wedding, oohing and aahing over all the cute details. They had a beautiful outdoor ceremony, overlooking the suffolk marshes. The ceremony was full of personal touches with their friends singing songs to them and each of their family members giving their own blessing message to them. Louisa and Kevin went for a walk on their own whilst guests enjoyed cream tea with vintage teacups that Louisia spent weekend upon weekend searching for at carboot sales. She’s now considering setting up a vintage wedding design company. If she does, I’ll be recommending her!
