Adil and Umida Part One

Now its not everyday that you get invited to photograph a wedding in….Kazakhstan! I met Adil and Umida in London when Umida flew to England for her very first time to pick out her wedding dress. Adil, being very down to earth, somewhat played down the scale of the wedding so was somewhat surprised to find out who was on the VIP guest list…hush, hush ;-)

It was a lovely leisurely start to the day with just me and Umida at the hair salon and then getting ready in her hotel room. Umida chose not to have bridesmaids so I ended up zipping her into her dress!  Adil came to join us (and had a wrestle with the zip as well) and we grabbed a few portraits before we went down to the reception, sneaking through the kitchen before entering the huge banqueting hall

The first day of the wedding was for the couple’s colleagues and connections. The party started at 6pm and went on to 4am and my, my, the Kazakhs know how to party! Look and learn England! I don’t think the dance floor was empty at all during the whole 2 days with a full scale production of dancers, comedians and gymnasts in between some seriously diva-ish guests. Adil’s friends had prepared a surprise for the couple – a full renedition of X factor!
