Wedding photojournalism

WPJA winner

I’m pleased to announce I received 17th place in the Wedding Photojournalist Association contest in the creative portrait category, which is entered by photographers all over the world. This is added to the the 2 awards I won last year as well which placed me as medallion winning member. Thanks to Sara and Pete whose wedding this was, shot in August in Castlefield, Manchester.

‘The Wedding Photojournalist Association proudly recognizes the accomplishments and creative excellence of Fjona Wei-ling. The following awards have been earned by Fjona from the WPJA. These achievements come with great merit considering the high level of competition that a member faces in the contests. Stringent standards are upheld throughout the contests, standards equivalent to those of professional working photojournalists.’

‘JUDGES COMMENTS: Quite an interesting way to photograph the groom and his men; looks like it was taken inside a lighthouse and it’s got the feel of an M.C. Escher print. Excellently executed so that even the men at the bottom are clearly in focus.’
